Common Questions
We’re here to help.
Choosing someone to support you or a loved one at home is an important decision, and naturally you’ll have questions.
Here are some of the questions we’re most commonly asked. If you can’t find the answer you’re looking for, we’d love the opportunity to have a friendly, obligation-free chat.

Practical Support Solutions supports older adults, people recovering from illness or injury, and anyone who would benefit from practical assistance to remain safe, independent and confident in their own home.
Whether you need occasional help or regular ongoing support, we’ll work with you to create a personalised service that suits your individual needs, goals and lifestyle.
-
Practical Support Solutions was founded by a local emergency paramedic after recognising that many people didn’t necessarily need more medical care - they needed practical, personalised support to remain independent at home.
Our small, highly qualified team brings extensive emergency services experience, practical problem-solving skills and a genuine passion for helping people.
We believe in building trusted relationships, providing flexible support and tailoring every visit to each individual. Because no two people are the same.
-
No.
We are a private fee-for-service business, meaning you don’t need government funding or a Home Care Package to access our services.
We work directly with you and your family to create a support plan that suits your individual circumstances.
-
Absolutely.
Life doesn’t fit neatly into one service - and neither do we.
One week you may need transport to a medical appointment.
The following week you might simply need someone to help around the garden, change a light bulb, organise paperwork or assist with a few jobs around the house.
Every visit is tailored to your individual needs, making the most of your booked time.
Support that changes with your needs.
-
Yes - and many of our clients do.
One of the things that makes Practical Support Solutions different is our flexibility.
Rather than arranging separate appointments for gardening, transport, handyman work or practical assistance, we can often complete several different tasks during the same visit.
For example, during a two-hour visit we might:
Drive you to a medical appointment
Collect a prescription from the pharmacy
Pick up a few groceries
Put the shopping away
Change a light bulb or smoke alarm battery
Water the pot plants before we leave
Enjoy a cup of tea and a friendly chat
It’s your time, and we’ll work with you to make the very best use of it.
One visit. Countless ways to help.
-
