Meet Tiffany
More than experience. A genuine passion for helping people.
Hi, I’m Tiffany, founder of Practical Support Solutions.
For more than 20 years, I’ve had the privilege of working on the frontline with the ambulance service as an emergency paramedic. Throughout my career, I’ve supported people and families during some of the most challenging moments of their lives. While every situation is different, one thing became increasingly clear to me - many people weren’t becoming unwell simply because of illness or injury. Often, they were struggling because of lacked practical, everyday support.
I met countless people who wanted nothing more than to remain living safely and independently in the home they loved. Sometimes all they needed was someone to drive them to an appointment, help around the house, mow the lawn, change a light bulb, organise paperwork, or simply spend time sharing a conversation over a cup of tea. Yet finding flexible, personalised support that truly met all of those needs was often difficult.
That realisation planted the seed for Practical Support Solutions.
While my professional experience inspired the business, my personal journey truly shaped its purpose.
Like many families, ours has been navigating the heartbreaking reality of Alzheimer’s disease. Watching my mum’s condition progress has given me an entirely different perspective - not as a health care professional, but as a daughter.
I’ve experienced first-hand the challenges families face when trying to coordinate multiple providers, each responsible for only one or two small parts of a person’s care. One may assist with personal care, another with cleaning, someone else with gardening, and yet another with home maintenance. While each service has an important role, it can mean a constant steam of different people entering the home, making what should feel like a place of comfort seem unfamiliar.
I’ve also learnt that supporting someone isn’t just about caring for the person - it’s about supporting the entire environment in which they live. A safe and well-maintained home, practical assistance with everyday tasks, and familiar faces who take the time to build genuine relationships can make an enormous difference to a person’s confidence, independence and quality of life.
I wanted to create something different.
A service that offers more options, more flexibility, and more personalised support.
A service where people can build relationships with trusted, familiar faces instead of seeing new people every week.
A service that looks beyond individual tasks and focuses on the whole person.
That’s why I created Practical Support Solutions.
We’re intentionally a small, highly qualified team, because we believe consistency matters. When you welcome someone into your home, you should feel comfortable, know who is arriving, and build genuine relationships based on trust.
Our team brings extensive experience in emergency services, where we’ve developed exceptional communication, practical problem-solving skills, professionalism, adaptability and the ability to remain calm under pressure. This experience allows us to confidently assist with a wide range of everyday tasks while always keeping your safety, wellbeing and independence at the centre of everything we do.
We don’t believe support should fit neatly into a box. Every person is different, every home is different, and every family has different priorities. That’s why we take the time to understand your individual circumstances and tailor our support to suit your needs, rather than expecting you to fit into a standard service. Circumstances can also change quickly, and so can we. No long wait times for assessments.
We also recognise that some jobs require specialist knowledge or licensed trades. If a task falls outside our scope, we’re more than happy to connect you with trusted local tradespeople or specialists. We believe in finding the right solution for you, even if that means referring you to someone else. Our goal is to make life easier by helping coordinate the support you need - not just the services we provide ourselves.
Our vision is simple: to provide practical, tailored support that helps people remain independent, connected and confident in their own homes for as long as possible. Whether it’s companionship, transport, domestic assistance, home safety improvements, gardening, handyman services or everyday practical support, we work alongside our clients to create a service that genuinely fits their lifestyle, goals and changing needs.
I believe the very best support begins with genuine relationships. We take the time to listen, understand what matters most to each person, and provide practical solutions with kindness, respect and compassion.
Because at the end of the day, everyone deserves to feel safe, valued and supported in the place they call home.
Helping people stay independent today, so they can continue living confidently tomorrow.
